Looking to kill it with your next performance? Are you wanting to show off perfect technique and learn to master musicality? Killin' it with Zills and Drills is your path to killin' it on the stage! In this workshop, Cassandra will share with you her personal drilling and zilling practice and how to translate these techniques onto stage. With clever combos, challenging isolations, unique foot patterns, energetic spins and traveling moves, all while playing finger cymbals, you will be well on your way to owning the stage.
Cassandra Rose is a multi-award-winning professional belly dance artist. She is a highly sought-after performer and instructor in the Pacific Northwest, known for her high energy, elegant, and creative performances and choreography. She has been dancing for over a decade and has been trained in American Cabaret, Egyptian and Turkish Belly Dance, with additional training in fusion belly dance, jazz, hip hop, ballet, and modern. She just opened her own dance studio in Salem, Oregon, called Bellywood, where she teaches beginning through advanced level classes in traditional and fusion styles. She is the director of multi-award-winning tribal fusion Belly Funk and cabaret troupe Sirens. "A Tribal Story"
In this workshop participants will be given an insight into a new repertoire of techniques and styling - ‘Tribalinas Vocabulary’ exclusive to Tribalina Bindu which her own individual Tribal Fusion style,which includes a unique fusion of Tribal Fusion Belly dancing with popping and Kathak. We would learn a fun choreography incorporating the combos and techniques we have learnt as we proceed. Slow juicy serpentine moves, fast paced Kathak and animated pops and breaks - Get ready to create a beautiful Tribal Story.
Bindu Bolar was born and raised in Mangalore, India, and first fell in love with Tribal Fusion belly dance after seeing Rachel Brice perform. She trained in Oriental style with Anna Olkinuora, from the UK, and taught herself Tribal Fusion. She won the first belly dance competition in India, gaining the title of The Most HipNotic Belly Dancer of 2013, at Hip-Nosis 13, an international belly dance festival in Bangalore. She then trained extensively with Moria Chappell, Artistic Director of Bellydance Superstars. She is also trained in Bollywood, B-Boying, Hip Hop, Salsa, Merengue, Bachata, Kathak, and Contemporary. Bindu ultimately quit her IT job to pursue dance professionally. She has more than eight years’ experience in dance, and has taught workshops in Bangalore, Mangalore, Pune, Coimbatore, Salem, Mumbai, and Chennai, to name a few. Her expertise and unique styling have earned her the nickname “The Tribalina” in the belly dance community. She is the owner and director of Lights Camera Dance, which has been training students in numerous genres of dance since 2007.
