Combinations with Zills
This workshop will apply different playing techniques to fun combos. Including playing only with the rhythm, playing only accents, following the melody, etc. Sharpen your skills for stage and live performances! Bring your own zills if you have them. Some loaners will be available.
KATA MAYA is a nationwide professional instructor and performer based in Oklahoma City, 2017’s Belly Dancer of the Year, as well as a touring member of Bellydance Evolution. She began her path in Middle Eastern Bellydance 22 years ago and has won numerous titles along the way, including East Coast Classic in 2016, and Belly Dancer of the Universe at the age of 17. Last year she released her first DVD, "Demistifying Drum Combos", with Candlelight Productions. Modern Egyptian Technique & Combos
This workshop will focus on technique that incorporates sharp hip work, intricate shimmy layering, and dynamic floor patterns all weaved together into fun contemporary combinations.
AHAVA is a multi-award-winning performer, choreographer, and producer based in the San Francisco Bay Area. She is a sought-after instructor who has traveled the world teaching and performing for over a decade. She is known for her subtle Egyptian style, musicality, and vivid expression. She is the artistic director of the Ahava Dance Company, and had a total of six competition titles, including 2006 Queen of Raqs Sharki and 2008 Belly Dancer of the Year. Since retiring from the competition circuit, Ahava has become an in-demand coach, training award-winning soloists, duos/trios, and troupes. In addition to her titles, she has also been a featured dancer in many instructional and performance DVDs that have been distributed around the world.
